So last night, my youngest, Andrew was sick with a high fever. He had a terrible cough all day, but it wasn't until he came into your bed last night did he have a burning fever. The fever broke though in the middle of the night. My husband didn't know if we should of sent him to school or not, but I thought keeping him home from school wouldn't hurt him too bad. So it was Mommy & Andrew Day!!
We got up this morning and had breakfast, and while I waited for my food to digest, I checked my emails and he watched Sponge Bob Square Pants. I figured there would of been no way that I could take him to the YMCA with me because I didn't want him to get anyone sick in the babysitting room & I didn't want him to get more sick if anyone in there was. And he wouldn't stay by himself with my aunt. So I decided to try and workout in our basement.
Now before I took this challenge, I tried to workout in our basement. I have a treadmill, 3, 5 & 8-lb dumbbells, a large exercise ball, a small pilates/yoga ball & a exercise band. Not to shabby for us at home. But the tough thing about using them was if my kids got sick, I would get so busy with them that I wouldn't do it. Or if I knew I was behind on laundry or the house was a mess, I would tell myself that I didn't have time to do anything but those household chores.
And man, was I feeling it today. I had to care for my son, and the household chores were filling up, but I also knew that if I just didn't do it today, man, you guys would let me have it!!!
So I changed into my exercise clothes, all the way down to my tennis shoes, went down to the basement with my laptop & I hooked them up to the portable computer speakers, set up the laptop on the bar and went to Exercise TV website (exercisetv.tv) and pulled up a 10-minute stretching video & a 25-minute upper body video. Boy, was I feeling it at the end of both of those videos. I started sweating at the end. (Dang plank exercises!!!) When all was said & done, it was kind of a nice change to do something other than going to the YMCA and getting on the resistance machines. That website is a pretty good website. Instead of buying those DVDs at Wal Mart or some place like that, you can pull them up off of the internet and there you go. And the other nice thing about it is that they change the videos every month. So you don't have to watch the same video over and over again.
The rest of the day, I went to the salon to get my hair done, took my son to lunch, got my chiropractic adjustment (man did I need that!), and picked up the kids from school. The other thing that I noticed was that if I paced myself real well, I didn't feel like crashing at 3-3:30 pm. I had plenty of energy to keep going throughout the day. So it wasn't an anemia/low iron issue, just pushing too much too fast!!
Here is my food journal entry for today:
