Day Seventeen- Man....Are My Muscles Weak!!!

Today was the final orientation on the workout equipment that the YMCA has. I was very grateful that the trainer took me back through all the equipment that I had already used, but also all the equipment that I needed to learn.

The YMCA has FitLinxx, and the great thing about it, it will track all the equipments that I have been on, how many reps, amount of weights used, etc. The other great thing about it is that it will also track any other type of exercises (cardio) that I did. So if I swim, I can record the time & meters, if I walk on the treadmill/elliptical, I can record the time and intensity. Even if I play basketball, I can track that as well.

So, looking back on this day, there was a lot of things that I have already started to notice that is effecting how I function throughout the day.

Fact #1: Snack time is very important!!!
Yesterday, I made sure that I had a mid-morning snack. Man, did that make me not want to gorge on my lunch. Today, I forgot to bring my snack with me, and didn't have an afternoon snack that for dinner, I felt like I made some really bad choices this evening.

Fact #2: Hydration, Hydration, Hydration
All day yesterday I carried around one of those large bottles of Smart Water. I like the taste of it, and it also helps me visualize how much water I needed to be drinking. Today, I forgot my water bottle, and I realized I maybe drank one small cup of water the whole day, and multiple cups of coffee. And now, my skin feels like it is so dry, it is going to fall off & my lips are feeling really chapped.

Fact #3: If you don't prepare & plan for the meals for that day, then man, I am going to be in big trouble!!!
Yesterday, I was making sure that the meals that I was going to eat was planned pretty well. But today, I was so exhausted and not hydrated, that at the end of the day, I was more concerned about just getting something in my stomach instead of making a wise choice. So please don't chastise me too bad- after I ate what I ate, I felt like garbage.

Then, at the end of the day, I was so exhausted, but I had enough energy to go to my youngest son's scrapbooking school function. But after than, I was so hungry, I didn't care where my husband took us for dinner. Man, bad idea..... I wasn't thinking that he makes fast food his #1 spot.

So tomorrow, again, is a new day, new choices, better choices. Tomorrow is cardio day- more than likely, I will either do the treadmill or maybe the elliptical. We will see which one I pick tomorrow.

Here is my food journal entry for today:

Breakfast
Bowl of Cheerios
Coffee

Lunch
Fresca Salad w/ Grilled Salmon
4 small slices of Foccaccia Bread
Sweet Tea

Dinner (This was the bad choice)
Quarter Pounder Meal
Fries
Coke

So, tomorrow is cardio day- and I am really going to make sure to have mid-morning & afternoon snacks. Fingers crossed & wish me luck!!!! Talk to you all tomorrow!

  1. Good job on some of your observances! Paying attention to your body is very important so you know what works and what doesn't.

No one expects perfection, only that you try! Again, no one expects perfection, only that you TRY.

That being said, I feel obligated to call you out on your dinner choice, even though you don't want to hear it. Now let me tell you WHY...

If your husband's favorite spot is fast food, it sounds like you will face this often and for the forseeable future. Will you keep using that as an excuse or find a way to live healthy in your current everyday life? No matter how tired you are, it takes just as much energy to order a quarter pounder as it does a salad. Here's the link to the nutritional info. http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/nutritionexchange/nutrition_facts.html

What would Jillian or Bill order?

Knowledge is power. Knowing you are making a healthy choice will let you hold your head high and provide you with the confidence you can do this! (It also sets a positive example for your children.)

Ok, keep going, I know you can! Drinking tons of water and eating healthy snacks are great and will do wonders toward you reaching your overall goal. Keep it up! :)

  2. You really need to eat a carb and protein together with each meal if possible. Cheerios and coffee wont cut it. Hard boil some eggs and eat 3 or 4 egg whites with those cheerios. You can keep a weeks worth in the fridge and they dont get any easier.

A snack can be a 1/2 cup non-fat cheese and a nonfat yogurt. Protein and carbs... If you actually eat every 2-3 hours and eat correctly you will be far less hungry throughout the day and have more energy.

The lunch looks good, I dont know what the bread equalled up to as far as calories, but you got the protein/carb split. Remember to eat a serving of veggies with at least 2 of your meals
